What happened to Adam's SmileZone?

BAD NEWS: I've decided to retire my SmileZone site.
GOOD NEWS: The good bits are already on their way to being moved and improved.

Agh! But where do I go for now?

- BLADAM: Life, Liberty, Love and Stuff -- http://www.bladam.com/
Musings on geekery, dancing, society, music, photography and much more. Updated on and off since 2002!

- The boringly-named Lasnik.net -- http://www.lasnik.net/
More photos, some AdamMusic, and other assorted goodness.

Not-yet-frequently-asked questions

Why, Adam?!
I now have a rewarding and very intense full-time job. Plus I still manage two other sites (see above), and since I would like to spend some time away from computers, something had to go. I began maintaining a popular e-mail list and versions of this site back in '95 (!), but all good things must come to an end... or at least a transition.

What's gonna happen to all the photos, travel info, and other useful and fun stuff?
They'll all find a home somewhere and hopefully given both a face-lift and some interactivity (e.g., ability for others to easily contribute and comment). It may take 'til 2007, though.
- Sections that will definitely be moved 'n' improved: Lindy Hop, Photography, Travel, Relationships
- Sections that may find a new home: Forum, Music, Blogging

How about the Conversation Corner?
Alas, the fate of the forum is more uncertain. On one hand, I hate to permanently bury the many interesting conversations ranging from societal musings to hilarious photo captions to movie reviews and beyond.

On the other hand, however, I'm loathe to continue providing a welcome mat for the bazillions of angsty teens whining: "How do I get a boyyyyyyyyfriend!?!!!!!1" As you might imagine, this was not what my forum was intended for; sadly (and admittedly somewhat humorously), however, a few of these sort of posts started ranking high in the search engines for "find a boyfriend," further attracting the herds of the lonely and love-lorn. This, then, perpetuated the cycle of angstiness... both drowning out and scaring off more diverse conversations.

To those who were substantive contributors to the Conversation Corner, drop me a note... and I'll see what I can do about getting you a copy of the archives if you'd like. To the rest of you... I apologize, but try to just view it fondly as the end of an era. And hopefully you all have boyfriends (or girlfriends or inner peace in singleness) by now anyway :)
