Jackie first joined the Smilezone team in December 2015, and is excited to take on her role as Communications Coordinator. She received her Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in Anthropology and Sociology, and is now completing her Masters of Social Work at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto.
Jackie spent eight years with the City of Burlington’s Diversity programs, where she supported children, youth, and adults with special needs in a variety of recreational and life-skill building activities. For two years, she supervised four successful summer camp programs focused on providing inclusive, safe and unique opportunities to all participants. During her undergraduate studies, she was a peer mentor for the University of Toronto’s Accessibility Services, and helped facilitate numerous academic workshops and community events. She also volunteers as a coach for the Burlington Flames Special Olympics Basketball team and as a frontline volunteer at The Darling Home For Kids.
Jackie is an energetic leader who is passionate about human rights advocacy, and promoting health and wellness. She loves running, reading, live music, and spending time at the cottage. Her commitment to helping others and celebrating diversity shines bright through her work with Smilezone.
