Niagara Children’s Centre, in St. Catharines ON

Throughout the final weekend in August, 2016SIX SMILEZONES were installed at Niagara Children’s Centre, in St. Catharines ON, bringing the total number of Smilezones in Ontario up to 82! The six new Zones included a therapy pool, patient waiting area, two family change rooms, the volunteer change room and the full gymnasium.

Throughout the course of the transformation process, the Niagara IceDogs worked closely with Smilezone Foundation to ensure the Zones reflected their community and local landmarks.

Niagara Children’s Centre provided rehabilitation and support services to over 3,200 children and youth last year across the Niagara Region with physical, developmental and communicative delays. Children cared for include those with developmental speech and language delays, autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, brain injury and neurological conditions and developmental delay.

Specific Features in the Smilezone Transformation Include:

  • Fun and engaging themed murals for children and families, featuring local landmarks such as Niagara Falls and the Welland Canal
  • Custom cabinetry and banquette seating for family use
  • Warmly-coloured, fresh paint throughout the Zones
  • Eight Niagara IceDogs jerseys displayed in the gymnasium
  • New whiteboards and Bose Mini Soundlink for the Volunteer Room
